Cookie Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026

Autonomy is a self-publishing platform operated by Ever After Press ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on https://autonomy.everafterpress.co.uk and why.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies (such as local storage and session storage) store small amounts of data in your browser for the same purposes. In this policy we use "cookies" to cover all of these.

2. The cookies we use

We keep this deliberately minimal. Autonomy uses only the cookies and browser storage needed to run the service:

Authentication. Our sign-in system (Firebase Authentication, provided by Google) stores tokens in your browser so that you stay signed in between visits and so we know which account is yours. Without these, you could not log in.

Security. We use cookies and storage that help protect your account and the platform, for example to prevent cross-site request forgery and to detect abuse.

Payments. When you make a payment, Stripe (our payment processor) may set cookies on its own checkout pages to process the transaction securely and prevent fraud. These are controlled by Stripe and covered by Stripe's own cookie policy.

Preferences. We may store small amounts of data in your browser to remember choices you make inside the app, such as interface settings or the state of the publishing wizard, so you do not lose work between visits.

3. What we do not use

We do not use cookies for third-party advertising, and we do not sell data collected through cookies. We do not run cross-site tracking or advertising networks on Autonomy.

4. Managing cookies

Because the cookies we use are essential to signing in and using the service, Autonomy will not work properly without them. You can still control or delete cookies through your browser settings: most browsers let you block or clear cookies for individual sites. If you block essential cookies for autonomy.everafterpress.co.uk you will be signed out and may be unable to sign back in.

5. Third parties

The providers that may set cookies or use browser storage when you use Autonomy are: Google (Firebase Authentication and hosting infrastructure) and Stripe (payment processing). Each acts under its own privacy and cookie policies for the technologies it controls.

6. More information

For details of how we handle your personal data more generally, including your rights under UK data protection law, see our Privacy Policy at /privacy.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
